Custom Orthotics @ Broadway Burrard Chiropractic

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Foot biomechanics play an immense role in how the whole body moves and functions. All of your body is balancing on your feet, and if your feet aren’t functioning properly everything above them has to compensate. Problems such as low back pain, iliotibial band syndrome, patellar tendonitis, shin splints, plantar fasciitis and many other problems can all be the direct result of improper foot function. Often the best solution to this problem is through the use of orthotics custom-made for your foot.

Our Chiropractors have been certified by The Orthotic Group to examine you for the suitability of their orthotic footwear. Their products have provided excellent results for everyday use as well as for high performance athletes.

If you have any questions about custom orthotics  feel free to contact you’re favourite Vancouver Chiropractors.

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

After a recent night flight back from Hawaii, I was the only one that got off the plane at 5am not holding onto their sore neck.  Those wrap around pillows are worth their weight in gold.  I slept soundly without my neck flopping forward and straining it.  Think about protecting your neck on your next trip.    Questions or comments, please call us at Broadway Burrard Chiropractic.

New Study: Maintenance Manipulation for chronic low back pain

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

A new study in the journal “Spine” reveals that low back pain patients who received Chiropractic adjustment maintenance care over a 10 month period had better results regarding post-treatment pain and disability levels than patients who had stopped treatment after 1 month.  The maintenance care patients also had improved lumbar mobility and better perceptions of their general health.

What does this mean?  Basically, patience have the option to take part in  maintenance Chiropractic care (monthly or bi-monthly) or what we call “Spinal Hygiene”.  This new study reveals what we’ve clinically known for a long time but is now backed up by evidence.  Spinal maintenance adjustments makes for healthier backs.  To see the full journal article click the link below.

Travel & Back Pain

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010
Have you ever noticed how your back stiffens up on a lengthy plane ride.   After taking two of them recently, I certainly did.  While you sit for several hours,  there is less blood circulating to your back muscles and legs.   With less circulation, there is less oxygen getting to these areas,  and muscles that receive less oxygen tend to tighten up and eventually cramp.  A rule of thumb to prevent that stiff back while flying is to take a walk down the aisle every 2 hours.   This will get the blood circulating to all of these areas and you will feel much more comfortable.   Have a good flight.
