Dr. Jackie Wu is a Registered Acupuncturist and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine. After graduating from UBC with his bachelor’s degree in animal biology, Jackie completed 4 years of intensive studies in the Diploma Program for Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver. However, Jackie’s passion in pursuing the Tao of TCM does not end there. In 2014, he was honored to receive a full scholarship for 3 years of graduate studies and clinical internship from the prestigious Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in China. Upon graduation, he successfully obtained his master’s degree in the study of acupuncture.
Through years of training, Jackie has had the chance to study under many master acupuncturists, including the world-renowned Dr. Wei-Chieh Young, an expert in Master Tung’s classical acupuncture. Jackie has also studied extensively in the field of contemporary acupuncture protocols and trained with many leaders in this field, such as Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture and Auricular Medicine. Therefore, Jackie often integrates both modern and classical acupuncture methods into the practice, which resulted in a substantially higher success rate in treating sports injuries, whiplash, fibromyalgia, and internal medical conditions such as digestive issues, insomnia, and depression. Dr. Wu also had the honour to be invited as translator and teaching assistant at workshops and symposiums around the world.
Besides applying his skills locally in Vancouver, Jackie is also an active member of the Tzu-Chi International Medical Association (TIMA), as he provides regular treatments at outreach clinics for the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and First National Health Authority (FNHA). Jackie is also an on-call doctor for the crisis relief team, as he provided acupuncture outreach to the BC wild fire refugees in Kamloops in the summer of 2017. Having over 7 years of clinical experiences, both oversea and locally, Jackie believes that his method of combining the classical and modern approaches will bring a new perspective to improve wellness and better achieve balance in health.
